Will You Sit Beside Me?

We all have gone out door knocking, walked neighborhoods hanging door hangers inviting our neighbors to visit with us.  We also have talked to our friends, family member, and co-workers also, asking them to visit with us.  Most people will listen, ask a few questions and some say they will come to services but, few ever do.  This is somewhat frustrating to Christians who get out and work to bring sinners to Christ, then, someone comes up to us and asks where we worship and wants to know more about our service to Jesus and God, our Father.

A few weeks ago Barry and I were visiting with Jenny Padfield.  We met Jenny in the dining room and, before we went to Jenny’s room, a gentleman came over and visited with us.  Last night we looked in the dining room to see if Jenny was in there and, she was not.  But, the same man we talked to the last time we were there was in there.  He recognized us and Barry remembered him so, we went in to say hello.  Well, that hello took nearly an hour.  We talked briefly about everything under the sun and, then the conversation turned to the gospel and, he asked very good questions.  Barry and I took turns answering his questions and you could tell he was listening to everything we said.  He asked where we worship, and how long our services were in case he wanted to come because he has to let them know about how long he would be gone.  Barry jumped on this and asked if he wanted to come with us.  He asked, “Will you sit beside me?”

This excited Barry and me and the good Lord willing, Steve will visit with us this coming Lord’s Day.  Luke 15:10 “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

We are told to be ready and, I’m’ so glad we were.  2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
