"Young People Talk to Older Christians"

Recently, I wrote about two older men I visited on a preaching trip to Alabama. I finished by saying that we should honor people who have lived long lives in service to God. We should learn from their experiences and examples. Of course, you do not have to be elderly to be an example of righteousness and courage in the faith.
On the same trip, I also visited with two young preachers who asked me to have lunch with them and discuss the work of preaching the Gospel. Both David and Aaron are in their 30s. They are married and are fathers. They care a lot about serving God at home and in the church. I was very encouraged by these two young guys. They think scripturally. They preach the Word of God instead of their own ideas. They have been busy in the churches where they work with serious tasks such as appointing elders and standing for truths some others have abandoned. They asked for my advice. They wanted to know what my experiences have been in the church. I do not have all the answers, but I have learned a few things. I was glad they asked for my help.
So many older preachers have taught me, and some still do. The apostle Paul was an example for Timothy and Titus, two younger Christians in his time. They wanted to know what Paul had to say and they listened to his wisdom. You should be a Timothy or a Titus, too. Ask older Christians questions about their service to God. You will do yourself a big favor if you do!
